Talk Equity! Series
Talk Equity! Inclusive Language Panel
Thought-provoking discussions about equality, diversity and inclusion are a critical part of problem-solving and decision-making. They help us determine values and explore moral and ethical opinions, and can help delineate where problems and imbalances of power exist. The Talk Equity! programme is a series of equality, diversity and inclusion themed panel discussions and symposiums taking place throughout 2025.
Dr Simon Obendorf from the School of Social and Political Sciences will chair a discussion on the use of inclusive language. Topics will cover: what inclusive language means to you, becoming confident in using inclusive language, and what inclusive language means in the wider context of the University’s One Community values.

Supporting Lincoln PRIDE
The first ever Pride march in the UK took place in London on 1 July 1972 with only 700 people in attendance. Many people were too afraid to attend because they thought they would be arrested. Now there are Pride events across the UK, from big metropolitan cities to small towns with thriving gay-scenes. Pride events today have a celebratory feel including music, poetry, stage performances and colourful parades, and are often sponsored by big companies and organisations wanting to show their support the LGBTQIA+ community.
We all have a part to play in protecting and supporting our LGBTQIA+ students and colleagues. The University of Lincoln annually supports Lincoln Pride which aims to grow and offer a safe space for LGBTQIA+ people, their families, their allies, and everyone in between.
Lincoln Pride 2025 will be held on Saturday 16th August at Tentercroft Street carpark and is free to attend! The University will be organising a group for the parade around the city and hosting a stall to engage with the Pride-goers. If you would like to join us, please get in touch!

White Ribbon Campaign
White Ribbon Day and 16 Days of Activism to End Violence Against Women
25 NOV – 10 DEC
16 Days of Activism is an annual international campaign that starts on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. It was started by activists at the Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991.
White Ribbon Day has been driven in the United Kingdom by the charity, White Ribbon, which seeks to engage with men and boys to make a stand against violence. Their mission is for all men to fulfil the White Ribbon Promise to Never Use, Excuse or Remain Silent About Men’s Violence Against Women. They seek to encourage people, and especially men and boys, to individually and collectively take action and change behaviour. In 2024 White Ribbon are running the campaign #itsstartswithmen which highlights that all men can make a difference.
You can pick up your White Ribbon and sign the pledge across campus on the 25th November.
