Mandatory Training
Mandatory training ensures that the University is compliant with current regulations and legislation and that colleagues are in the best position to support students, fellow colleagues and customers. Due to legislative drivers, the requirements placed upon the University by external bodies, and the need to ensure we exercise our duty of care to all members of the University community; it is important that all people complete the necessary mandatory training. As well as motivating our colleagues to complete the training, we must ensure there are clear procedures in place for compliance.
All core, associate people and workers must complete mandatory training, appropriate and relevant for their position within the University, as directed by their line manager. Training and development areas will be deemed mandatory from a legal or statutory requirement or from an institutional perspective. As well as general mandatory training, some additional training will be specific to person’s position or role within the University or a group of people.
The training outlined below will need to initially be completed during your induction and probationary period and then in line with the refresher training noted below.
Refresher training should not be completed before receiving the automated email reminder, the system will not recognise the new completion date and colleagues will be required to complete the refresher training again in the relevant timeframe.

Core – F2f course then online module every 2 years Associates – online module – every 2 years |

Tier 2 – HoA/HoS/HoD or Team Managers to decide whether training in the areas below are required for their teams using the guidance available at the link below. | |

For colleagues who are involved in delivering apprenticeship programmes, there may be additional or differing training and development required in line with Ofsted requirements. |
