Meet Rick Battenbough, Systems Manager

Systems Manager Rick Battenbough joined the department in 2002. While he began his University of Lincoln career in recruitment and employee administration, he has been working with systems for 16 years.

Rick has responsibilities in developing new and existing HR systems to reflect the ever-changing needs of the business, and he plays an important role in helping to enhance the staff experience.

Although his role is very much behind the scenes, Rick’s contributions to the University are seen and used by all staff in systems such as MyView and E-expenses. In addition, his work on the Recruitment system not only aids in the appointment of new colleagues, but has the potential to be the candidate’s first experience of the University.

Rick is also the lead on the provision of statistical data and analysis, including key performance indicators, and ensuring statutory reporting requirements such as gender pay gap reporting are fulfilled.

In his spare time, Rick is the bass player in a band and enjoys recording music in his home studio. He also takes part in Tuesday afternoon social football with other staff and students here at the University.

As for his favourite thing about working at Lincoln, Rick credits his working relationships with people across the University.
